Earth now 2,000 light-years closer to Milky Way’s supermassive black hole

In the center of our galaxy, which is about 4 million times larger than our sun, there is a supermassive black hole called Sagittarius A *. And good news! Using a technique called interferometry, VERA collected data from telescopes throughout Japan and combined them with data from other existing projects to create essentially the most accurate Milky Way map on the day.
